Sue Cline, Pottery by Cline

All my work is made by hand, taking into account appearance, of course, craftsmanship, durability and safety. No toxic materials are used in my glazes and all pieces are fired to vitrification; anything that varies from this standard is especially noted. I make most of my work on the potter's wheel, even pieces that appear to be sculptured. On occasion I hand-build pieces from slabs or coils. I make both functional and decorative work for home and garden.

About the Artist

My ceramics career began as a "mom's night out" when my children were small. I have been making pottery for more than 35 years, in community studios, my basement, and now at the Pendleton Art Center. I am grateful for my teachers, especially Dode Shepherd and Joyce Clancy, who were not only good teachers but also kind and patient ceramists. I have attended many workshops, both in person and online, and am still in awe of the range and breadth of creativity in the ceramics world.
