My work explores the nuances of place.
I love finding the subtle tonal shifts in value and edges on a misty morning to translating the bold, bright patterns and colors that the sun places upon the landscape.
My passion is my medium: soft pastels.
The vibrancy of the colors,
The feeling of the soft stick in your hand,
the layering of colors upon colors,
it’s ability to create the softest, lightest, most subtle of strokes to the heaviest and
sharpest of edges.
The marks it can make are everything.
I strive to translate the mundane landscape of green and brown into the many colors it is truly made of and have that translation bring the viewer to that place of seeing more....in soft pastel and oil.
