Joseph Watkins is an Appalachian artist whose art is rooted in the mountains of South East Kentucky, where he was born. Joe grew up in Cincinnati, (his family was part of the second great migration) but was never far from his origins as most of his summers were spent in the hollers and hills of Perry County with his grandparents, aunts, uncles and his many Kentucky cousins.
Joe a retired business owner, got serious about his art, after a bout with cancer. The great master of the late 19th century; Paul Ce’zanne, Renoir, Monet as well as other great impressionists captured his imagination and inspired him to try different styles and techniques in the studio.
Joe hopes you will be as excited by his paintings as his was creating them.
