Joell Angel-Chumbley, MFA, is a professional designer, sculptor and painter exhibiting work both regionally and nationally. Her work builds on simple elements, complex layers, and connective patterns found in nature and urban environments. The work employs a multi-layered mixed media approach including found wood and metal, paper, fabric, photography, water-based stains, pigments, pastels, paint, and thread. The natural materials and found objects embody a past life, story and history; fabric and sewn line represents the connective patterns of the universe, marked paths and life’s journey. Although the narrative of the work begins with the artist, it acquires new meaning through the eyes and interpretations of the viewer.
