Irene is drawn to nature and the landscape, from the simplest tree to the majestic vista.  It is here that she finds the opportunity to add her perspective and explore the elements of light, shape, texture, color and atmosphere.  She enjoys working in pastels because the immediacy of the pastel stick between her fingers allows for the most subtle of strokes or most dramatic lines.  The rich, pure pigments of pastels allow multiple layers of color and visual mixing on the surface.  Irene also enjoys working in oils and watercolors.
