About the Artist

"My paintings speak to the undeniable link betweenhealthy, natural systems and human well-being.
They reflect the exhilaration and renewal I feel when I experience the essence of the natural
world- its beauty, its diversity and the ever changing dramas that are played out in changing
seasons, weather and light. I strive to paint the vibrancy, the freshness, the calm, the excitement,
the awe and the spiritual essence of the world I see."

Chris Comte's broad range of experience contributes to her artwork. Chris is an environmentalist, a member of the Sierra Club, the Nature Conservancy and spends many hours outside where the natural world inspires her art. A mother of two, former Navy nurse and computer science professor, Chris has always had a passion for painting. Despite what her main life focus was, she took classes whenever and wherever she could including Rochester Institute of Technology, Northern Kentucky University, the Art Academy of Cincinnati and from private instructors.

A resident of Newport, KY, Chris works at her studio in Pendleton Art Center in Cincinnati and shows her art there on Final Friday Gallery Walks. Her work has been shown at in the Cincinnati Woman's Art Club 115th Juried Exhibition, "Bringing the Outside In" at the Global Lead Art Gallery, "A Change of Season's" at Gallery Salveo, Baker Hunt's "Forever Flowers" show, "freshART" at the Behringer-Crawford Museum, Clifton Cultural Art Center's Golden Ticket Art Show as well as Incahoots Restaurant and Reality Tuesday Cafe.
