About the Artist

Raymond Burt is a native of Cincinnati, a graduate of The University of Cincinnati DAA program (now DAAP) with a degree in advertising design. His foundation for painting came from studying with such notables as Robert Fabe, Reginald Grooms, and Phil Foster. He has been successful both as a technical artist and a commercial designer. However, for over 30 years his focus has been directed to designing and producing major events in a corporate environment. He owned and operated Productions Etc., a full service production & presentation company working nationally with a diverse client base. Ray's father was a concert pianist, thus he seriously studied classical piano practicing 2-3 hours per day until he was 18, then decided to go to art school. He returned to again studied piano and music theory in the early 80's at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, now CCM. An artist, designer, and producer, Raymond Burt began his carrier in a technical art studio working from blue prints & specifications to prepare detailed drawings and illustrations that visualized assembly, installation and repair procedures for industrial clients. In 1978 his focus changed as he joined with a new venture into the growing world of multi-media and audio visual design, soon to become the David Douglas Corporation. The Design Group of the Corporation, of which he was President, had a reputation as one of the foremost production companies in the mid-west. In 1986 he purchased the division changing the name to Productions Etc., and for the next 20 years continued producing highly acclaimed corporate events nationwide. But the desire to paint freely has always remained. It’s only recently that he has again been able to fully explore his passion for painting, “My work is primarily in watercolor. Although some mornings in my studio, I find myself listening to Vivaldi and playing with acrylic inks in vibrant, abstract colors. But as the sun sets I always turn to Chopin and settle back to the translucence and softness of my watercolor brushes and pallet.” Ray served on the Executive Board of the Cincinnati Art Club for 5 years, producing ViewPoint, the Clubs national juried competition for seven years. He currently serves on the Board of the Duveneck Association of the Cincinnati Art Museum, and the MacDowell Society. www.raymondburt.com
