Fairfield artist John Wiehe is mostly self-taught, but has taken classes at the Fitton Center for Creative Arts with teacher Chrissy Collopy, the Middletown Art Center with teacher Karen Ng, and also the Cincinnati Art Academy with teacher Carin Hebenstreit.
There has been a number of awards received at various art shows. Recently John completed a project containing 25 oil portraits of notable civil rights leaders, which caught the attention of the Hamilton Journal News, and TV Channel 19 evening news. This project has been displayed at the Pendleton Art Center in Middletown, and the Fitton Center for Creative Arts, and will be exhibited at the Fairfield Community Art Center in the winter of 2022.
John specializes in oil portraits and does welcome commissions.
