About the Artist

David was born outside of Pittsburgh, PA to Elizabeth and Ronald McGee. Through out his school years, David was known to have superior art skills, and he excelled at art. After graduating, David enlisted into the United States Marine Corps to be a Combat Artist; but the MOS was full so he trained as a Combat Engineer, Draftsman and Enemy Intelligence and Reconnaissance. He earned the rank of Sergeant (E5) and held three Military Occupational Skills , as well as specialized classified training with U.S. Air Force, Taiwan Marines, Korean Marines. David served with distinction until he was injured and was medically discharged from active service.

Having been told that he may never walk again. David returned to his Art, Thanks to Dr. “Bill” and a triage nurse named Mary Ann, as a form of healing. Having to live with PTSD, depression, constant pain and anxiety, David’s art soothes and calms him. Since returning to his art as a form of treatment, David continues to excel at his art working in the Hyperrealism of portraits. David has a passion for history and often does Frontier Art Pieces, as well as portraits of antique cars, motorcycles, people and their pets. Commissions are welcomed.
