A local contemporary artist, Crystal Huie Arnold was born in Cleveland, Ohio. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from Northern Kentucky University. Crystal has worked with children, teenagers, and adults in the arts; as a teaching artist- educating high school students in two and three-dimensional art; art instructor, and coordinated an art club in an after-school program.
At a young age, Crystal was introduced to drawing, sculptor, and painting by her mother who was also an artist. She also attended art classes at the Cleveland Museum of Art. In addition to the visual arts, she was also introduced to modern dance and the violin.
It was after the diagnosis of breast cancer that changed her life and career. Crystal discovered that art is healing. Her artwork embraces the joys and challenges of the journey of life and that painting is a tool for healing.
Since 2010, Crystal's art studio at the Pendleton Art Center is a quiet sanctuary to express herself through a collection of paintings on canvas. Additionally, her goal as an artist is to raise awareness, appreciation, and understanding of the visual arts and its healing power.
